Extra Curricular Activities
Extra Curricular Activities

Extra curricular activities are an important part of the educational life at the English School of Asturias .
We offer an Athletics Club for children aged 7-11 on Monday afternoon 4.45 – 5-45pm and a soccer club on Wednesday evening 4.45 – 5.45pm. Chinese lessons are also available on Monday and Wednesday afternoons after normal school ends.
We also offer music lessons in piano and guitar.
Asturias offers a wide array of extracurricular experiences and we take full advantage of them. As well as regular visitors who come to the school to talk to the children about their careers or interesting hobbies, our students have the opportunity to visit the local theatre for musical or dramatic performances. During the last academic year there have been visits to the local milk and cheese factory, a company that produces honey in Oviedo, the Botanic Gardens in Gijon, and the local power station. Students in Year 12 visited the local McDonalds as part of their Business Studies Primary children in Year 3 and 4 have the opportunity to camp out on the school field, Year 5 and 6 have walking trips in the Picos de Europa mountains, as well as the opportunity to experience canoeing on the River Sella. Year 8 travel to Cordoba and Granada for a week and Tear 9 traditionally spend a week in London. Last year Year 13 travelled to Gredos on a biology field trip and a group went to Florida to see one of the last NASA shuttle launches. All these educational experiences help to broaden children’s minds and are part of the well rounded education that we give the students at The English School of Asturias.
